The Australian Computer Society (ACS) offers three main assessment pathways for IT professionals. This guide focuses on the Post Australian Study Pathway – the most relevant route for international students who have completed IT or data science degrees in Australia.
Post Australian Study Pathway: For international students completing Australian IT/data science bachelor's or higher degrees.
General Skills Pathway: For applicants with overseas IT qualifications + work experience.
RPL Pathway: For non-IT qualified professionals with substantial IT work experience.
Completed an Australian IT or data science degree (bachelor's or higher)
Meet one of the following:
✅ 1+ year relevant work experience (365 days post-graduation, ≥20 hrs/week, local or overseas)
✅ Completed ACS Professional Year (PY) program
Cost: AUD $1,100
Processing Time: 4–6 weeks

Student W: Monash University IT Bachelor's + 1-year PY

Student Y: University of Melbourne Master of Information Systems + 1-year post-study Australian work experience

PY Alternative: No work experience? The PY program provides a direct pathway
