7. Success Story:

Student W came to us with a Master of Commerce (Accounting) transcript from the University of Melbourne.

Upon reviewing the courses, we found that the Business Law course was missing, which meant the accounting profession assessment requirements weren’t met.

After evaluating Student Y’s background (with undergraduate economics and graduate finance courses from Peking University), we recommended the following:

Apply for VETASSESS China qualification certification (CQV), ensuring the domestic qualifications are recognized by Australian assessing bodies.

Submit both Chinese and Australian qualifications to meet core course requirements.

Provide IELTS 4x7 or above English results to meet the language requirement.

Eventually, Student Y successfully received the 221111 Accountant (General) profession assessment, laying the foundation for their future skilled migration application.

8. Current Trends in Invitation Points:

Recently, the invitation points for Accounting (189 visa) have risen significantly, reaching 95 points. This has made the competition fierce.

In contrast, Taxation Accountant (221113) and External Auditor (221213) have relatively lower invitation points, with the most recent round being 85 points, making these pathways a popular choice for many applicants.

After understanding the trend and following our professional advice, Student W decided to complete additional core courses to meet the assessment requirements for Taxation Accountant and External Auditor.

After completing the additional courses, Student W successfully obtained the profession assessments for:

221113 Taxation Accountant

221213 External Auditor

This provided greater flexibility for their skilled migration application.

Conclusion:

If you have an undergraduate accounting background from China and plan to apply for Australian skilled migration, it's important to first consult with a professional advisor to evaluate whether your qualifications meet the core course requirements for the accounting profession assessment.

If you’ve completed a business-related qualification in Australia but are unsure whether it meets the course standards for accounting or auditing profession assessments, it’s also advisable to get an early evaluation.

If any core courses are missing, you can complete them (such as Business Law, Tax Law, Auditing, etc.) to meet the assessment requirements.

Once you complete the additional courses and meet the language requirements (such as IELTS 4x7 or PTE with scores of 65+), you can proceed with the profession assessment and lay the foundation for your skilled migration application.
