NT GSM nomination applications for 2023-24 open

The Northern Territory (NT) finally opened its state sponsorship for this fiscal year on October 23, 2023 (Monday). However, due to insufficient nomination allocations for this fiscal year, with 250 spots for the 190 visa and 400 spots for the 491 visa, the NT has officially announced that in the new fiscal year, they will only be accepting applications for Subclass 491 nominations, and applications for the Subclass 190 nominations will not be accepted temporarily.

This situation is likely to continue until the end of the fiscal year unless the federal government issues additional quota allocations.

NT Graduates is destined for only Subclass 491 in this fiscal year, compounded further by a limitation based on the 'visa expiry date' for application lodgment.

Those who hold a Temporary Graduate（Subclass 485）visa that expires after 01 Jul 2024 have no chance in this fiscal year, they can only try again in the next fiscal year(commencing 1 Jul 2024). The government will prioritize scarce quotas for local graduates whose visas are expiring before 1/7/2024.

Critical Sector

Those working in critical sectors will be prioritized for nomination.

 NT’s work stream remains largely unchanged.

· demonstrate that you have been residing in the NT for at least 12 consecutive months

· demonstrate full-time employment in the NT in an eligible occupation for at least six consecutive months immediately prior to applying for NT nomination

Even without nominated occupations work experience, applicants who have been employed on a full-time basis for at least six consecutive months in the critical sector may qualify for a subclass 491 nomination on an exceptional.

For offshore applicants, the Priority Occupation stream will be limited to 54 occupations listed on the new NT Offshore Migration Occupation. The NT Family Stream is temporarily closed this year.
