I. Australian Secondary School Study Application Requirements

For Junior High (Grades 7–10):

1. Must have graduated from primary school or be currently studying in Grade 7 or Grade 8.

2. Must have an average score of 70 or above.

3. Age must be between 13 and 17 years.

4. Good English skills are required (no IELTS requirement; applicants may apply for an IELTS exemption or attend a language course; private schools require AEAS language exam scores).

5. An economic guarantee of approximately RMB 300,000–350,000 is needed (depending on tuition fees and living expenses).

6. A guardian is required.

Start Dates:
School terms begin in January, April, July, and October every year; language courses can commence at any time.

Study Costs:

· Tuition Fees: Approximately AUD 15,000–20,000 per year for public schools, and around AUD 20,000–40,000 per year for private schools (depending on the institution).

· Living Expenses: Approximately AUD 20,000 per year (varies by city).

For Senior High (Grades 11–12):

1. Must have graduated from junior high or be currently studying in Grade 10, 11, or 12.

2. Must have a junior high average score of 70 or above.

3. Age must be between 14 and 19 years.

4. Good English skills are required (for applicants under 18, there is no IELTS requirement and an IELTS exemption may be applied for; private schools require AEAS language exam scores).

5. An economic guarantee of approximately RMB 350,000–400,000 is needed (depending on tuition fees and living expenses).

Start Dates and Program Duration:

· Only some schools accept international students for Grade 11, with term intakes in January and April. Grade 12 is not open to international students.

· Applicants for Grade 11 must be no older than 19 years.

Study Costs:

· Tuition Fees: Approximately AUD 15,000–20,000 per year for public schools, and around AUD 30,000–50,000 per year for private schools (depending on the institution).

· Living Expenses: Approximately AUD 20,000 per year (varies by city).


II. Australian Undergraduate Study Application Requirements

1. Must have graduated from Grade 11 or Grade 12 or be currently enrolled in university.

2. The domestic high school average should be at least 80; ideally, the Gaokao score should be 480 or above; for university transfers, the average should be at least 65 (depending on the institution).

3. Age must be between 18 and 25 years.

4. IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL score of 550 or above (requirements vary by institution; a language course may be arranged).

5. An economic guarantee of approximately RMB 400,000–450,000 is required (depending on tuition fees and living expenses).

Start Dates and Program Duration:

· Intake is in February and July each year; the program typically lasts 3–4 years.

Study Costs:

· Tuition Fees: Ranges from AUD 18,000 to 60,000 per year (depending on the institution and major).

· Living Expenses: Approximately AUD 40,000–50,000 per year (varies by city).


III. Australian Postgraduate (Master’s) Study Application Requirements

1. Must have a bachelor’s degree or be in the final year of undergraduate studies.

2. The university average should be at least 80 for admission to top universities (some programs require 85–90, depending on the applicant’s domestic university background and chosen major).

3. Ideally, age should be under 35.

4. IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 580 or above (requirements vary by institution; a language course may be arranged).

5. An economic guarantee of at least RMB 350,000 is required.

Start Dates and Program Duration:

· Programs typically commence in February and July each year, with some universities also offering October intakes.

· The program duration is usually 1–2 years (if a pathway program is required, the total expected duration is around 2–2.5 years).

Study Costs:

· Tuition Fees: Ranges from AUD 25,000 to 55,000 per year (depending on the institution and major).

· Living Expenses: Approximately AUD 35,000–50,000 per year (varies by city).


Other Essential Requirements

· Health Requirements:
Applicants must meet the health standards specified in the visa, and all accompanying family members must also satisfy these health requirements. Before the visa is processed, applicants must undergo a basic health examination and a chest X-ray at a designated hospital.

· Character Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate “good character” as part of their entry into Australia and will be required to provide a relevant statement during the application process.

· Health Insurance:
During their stay in Australia, applicants are required to purchase private health insurance. This is the mandatory Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC), which must be in place before the visa application is submitted. All accompanying family members must also be covered by OSHC.
